In this course, we will explore emotions as sociological phenomena. Other than approaching emotions as individual psychological drives, this course will emphasize emotions as socially constructed, collective states of minds. For the purpose, we will delve into the basic concepts in the field of sociology of emotions and investigate how emotions are embedded in power relations; thus, tightly connected to politics, culture, class, gender and race. This course aims to enhance critical thinking about emotions from a sociological perspective.
